School Social Worker or Counselor – 2025–2026 School Year 

Hello School Social Workers and Counselors!
Ampersand Therapy is hiring a  School Social Worker or Counselor  for the remainder of the 2025–2026 school year working with at an elementary school with K-5 students in Barrington, IL.

Position Details

• Start Date: January 5th, 2026 
• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:50am-2:50pm (Wednesdays until 3:20pm)
• Location: In-person, Barrington, IL 
• Setting: Elementary school, single-building caseload
• Caseload: K-5

Your Key Responsibilities

• Provide IEP counseling services and social-emotional support
• Attend and participate in IEP meetings
• Complete IEP documentation and progress reports
• Collaborate with school-based special education teams
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation
• Engage with families and community-based supports when appropriate
• Participate in staff meetings and contribute to a collaborative school culture

What We’re Looking For

• Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW)
• Professional Educator License (PEL) with a School Social Worker endorsement
• Experience in schools or special education is a plus
• Passion for inclusive, student-centered support and school collaboration
