The Registered Resource Nurse (RN) reports directly to the Director of Nursing and is responsible for assisting in policies, protocol review, updates, and coverage for clinical site areas to ensure the highest standards of patient care. The Resource Nurse will provide support for TRUECARE’ Community Engagement department through community screenings, vaccinations, and health education. In addition, the Resource Nurse will assist with Quality Assurance chart reviews in
adherence to NCQA guidelines and ensuring compliance with regulations such as Title XXII.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Nursing Functions: 25%
  • Performs rounds on each nursing unit, continuously observing, assessing the quality of patient care, and identifying nursing educational needs. Escalates concerns about nursing skills, patient care, policies, processes, and equipment as appropriate.
  • Assist in identifying training needs of medical assistant staff and nurses on an as needed basis and act as preceptor for medical assistants and/or nurses.
  • Provide nursing staff coverage.
  • Evaluate and monitor support staff on clinical skills competencies.
  • Follow TrueCare policies and procedures for efficient department operations, reporting requirements and maintaining quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  • Recognizes, evaluates, and responds to emergency or unusual situations in the organization, using nursing judgment to ensure needed medical care. Provides correct emergency intervention such as O2 therapy, IV access, medications, AED, CPR, guiding staff on direction and needs of emergency management.
  • Administer ordered medications according to current health center protocols.
  • Provide and participate nurse triage services to provide direct patient care within scope of license.
  • Able to work independently on weekends or evenings when needed.

Support to Director of Nursing: 30%

  • Assist in developing process workflows as it relates to assigned projects and/or to support internal process improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in the collection of Nursing Triage monitoring data.
  • Give direction to medical assistants regarding procedures and protocols as needed.
  • Primary resource nurse for other nursing/office personnel in areas of patient triage advice, emergency situations, overall patient care.
  • Provide support for TRUECARE’ Community Engagement department through community screenings, vaccinations, and health education.
  • Participate and collaborate on the development on Team Base Care program within TrueCare to enhance Medical Assistant career ladder.
  • Participates in and leads various task forces to improve workflows and enhance staff experience.
  • Serve as DON in their absence.
Education: 25%
  • Provide training and education to staff members in different sites as needed.  This may involve orienting new staff to specific services or providing in service training.
  • Participate and collaborate on the education for clinical and non-clinical staff providing education specific to health maintenance and chronic disease management at the direction of DON or Associate Chief Medical Officer  
Quality Assurance: 20%
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives by identifying areas for improvement and participating in performance activities.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the healthcare facility to identify areas for improvement and implement changes that enhance the quality of patient care.
  • Adhering to organizational policies and procedures to ensure consistency in nursing practices and promotes a standardized approach to care.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited California School of Professional Nursing.
  • Current California State Board RN license.
  • May be required to travel between all TrueCare’s sites and locations therefore California Driver’s License, proof of valid insurance and clean driving record required.
  • Availability to work a variable schedule, extended hours and/or Saturday shifts.
  • Computer proficiency, particularly with Electronic Health/Medical Record systems and the Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook and Word.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
  • Clinical nursing experience in an outpatient care setting or ambulatory care.
  • Community clinic experience.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (may be required at some clinical sites).
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, legal and technical aspects of a medical records system, and ICD-10 and CPT codes.

The pay range for this role is $45.07 - $62.15 on an hourly basis.
