CooperDouglas has partnered with a global consumer products manufacturer in seeking a Director of Regulatory Compliance to lead enterprise-wide regulatory strategy across an expanding portfolio. This is a high-impact leadership role for an individual who thrives at the intersection of product innovation, safety, and global compliance.
The Opportunity
This position oversees all aspects of product certification, safety, and environmental compliance for a multi-category consumer brand sold through major retail, e-commerce, and global distribution channels. Partnering closely with Engineering, Product Management, Quality, and Legal, this leader will ensure compliance frameworks enable speed to market while protecting consumer trust and enterprise integrity.
Key Responsibilities
Direct global product compliance programs across certification and regulatory bodies and related international agencies.
Manage third-party certification and Multiple Listing activities with NRTLs, ensuring uninterrupted market access.
Anticipate regulatory shifts (Prop 65, RoHS, REACH, WEEE, etc.) and proactively align business and product roadmaps to evolving requirements.
Oversee labeling, packaging, and consumer safety compliance for all product lines, including smoke detection and connected home devices.
Lead environmental and trade compliance, ensuring adherence to import/export documentation, customs classification, and sustainability mandates.
Serve as the organization’s compliance process owner, driving accountability, cross-functional communication, and early identification of risk.
Prepare for and lead regulatory audits, inspections, and investigations, maintaining audit-ready documentation across all product categories.
Champion a culture of compliance through education, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in Engineering, Regulatory Affairs, or related field preferred.
10+ years of progressive regulatory compliance experience within consumer electronics, lighting, or electrical safety industries.
Expert-level knowledge of U.S. and international product standards (UL 217, UL 1598, FCC Part 15/18, DOE, Energy Star).
Demonstrated success managing NRTL Multiple Listings (MLs) and certification lifecycles.
Skilled in leading cross-functional teams and influencing at all organizational levels.
Exceptional project management, communication, and documentation capabilities.
RAC, CRCM, or equivalent certification strongly preferred.

Compensation up to $155,000 + bonus
