Job Description

Summary

The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals for children enrolled in the childcare center. They ensure compliance with health and safety standards, maintain accurate records, and support the overall operational goals of the center. This position reports to the Center Director.

Duties

• · Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks in accordance with CACFP guidelines and program menus.
• · Maintain accurate records of menus served by class and file them in the CACFP folder located in the owner's office.
• · Document labor activities related to food service, including who served the meals.
• · Ensure all food preparation and storage areas meet health and safety standards.
• · Coordinate with the Director and Assistant Director to verify daily meal counts and ensure accuracy.
• · Participate in menu planning and assist in purchasing food supplies as directed.
• · Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and food storage areas regularly.
• · Follow established procedures for meal preparation, serving, and clean-up to maintain quality and sanitation standards.
• · Collaborate with center staff to accommodate children's dietary restrictions and allergies.
• · Maintain inventory of food and kitchen supplies, and assist in placing orders as needed.

Requirements

• · Experience in food preparation, preferably in an early childhood education or similar setting.
• · Knowledge of nutrition guidelines and ability to prepare meals that meet dietary requirements for young children.
• · Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in recordkeeping.
• · Ability to work independently and as part of a team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
• · Basic computer skills for recordkeeping and communication purposes.
• · Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
• Must be able to obtain a DPS Fingerprint Card
• · Must clear a full background check and pass a health screening.
