Job Description

Overview:

The Accounting Assistant is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the accounting department, with a primary focus on accounts payable and daily sales data entry. This role plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial records and works closely with accountants to resolve discrepancies and maintain financial integrity


 

Responsibilities:
  • Accurately perform daily sales data entry and ensure timely processing of accounts payable transactions.
  • Collaborate with accountants to identify and resolve discrepancies or issues related to daily sales reporting.
  • Maintain organized records and documentation for all A/P transactions and sales entries.
  • Assist with month-end closing processes and financial reporting as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with internal departments to gather necessary information and resolve accounting-related inquiries.
  • Utilize accounting software (preferably Oracle) and Microsoft Excel to manage and analyze financial data.
  • Support the accounting team with various clerical tasks, including filing, scanning, and document management.
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in handling sensitive financial information.



 

Qualifications:
  • Preferred 1 year of previous accounting or accounts payable experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential; experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and accounting databases (Oracle preferred) is highly desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial recordkeeping.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-tasking, hands-on environment.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
  • High level of professionalism and a commitment to maintaining positive working relationships.
  • High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
